MEET THE COACHES
U11 COACH - David Fletcher
Originally from Surrey, David has been coaching full-time in Hastings for 5 years. During that time, many players that David has helped coach have progressed and played for Sussex County juniors, become open champions and 2 have gone on to become England ranked players. Countless others are just happy to be playing badminton. David is sponsored by Carlton,
U13 ADVANCED COACH - John Blatchley
John is the most senior of the East Sussex coaches having nearly 40 years experience. John has coached all ages and abilities. Many of his students have progressed onto junior County whilst others have achieved recognition at senior County and National levels. John was one of the initial Committee members behind the Sussex Badminton Coaches Association.
U16 COACH - Tony Wilmott
Tony has been coaching for 8 years, and runs the successful Chelwood Gate Junior Badminton Club which is 'silver accredited'. Tony has coached the Sussex U15 and U17 squads for 3 years, and was `Highly Commended` in the Sussex Coach of the Year Awards 2006. He plays for the Sussex Veterans team and is sponsored by Carlton.
William Brown
William acts as cover for all the squads. William is another very experienced coach. He was a founding Director of Kent Badminton, County Junior Secretary for Kent for 12 years, managed the Kent Youth Squad and County third team, as well as coaching their U17 squad for 14 years. Along with John, and Bruce Peapell (our former Chairman), William was one of the initial Committee members behind the Sussex Badminton Coaches Association.
